European Stadium and Safety Management Association Summit
The ESSMA Summit held in Bilbao, Spain in January, welcomed over 300 people from across Europe and beyond to hear and debate and the latest issues facing stadiums; from safety and security to improving the fan experience.
The SGSA was pleased to be invited to address the conference on the developments of the Green Guide. SGSA Inspector Ken Scott talked about the importance of the document and its 30 year contribution to raising safety standards at sports grounds in England and Wales and around the world. He also shared the SGSA’s view about the importance of ensuring the guidance evolves to reflect changes in legislation, building practices and technological advances.
Ken Scott said “The ESMMA Summit is an important forum bringing together professionals from the sports stadia industry. The Green Guide is known throughout the world and it was interesting to hear the constructive views from those who use the guidance and who have pledged to contribute to the consultation process.”
The Green Guide is currently being reviewed and the SGSA is seeking views for the future edition. The closing date for consultation submissions is Friday 18 March.
The SGSA is pleased to support the work of ESMMA and the organisations signed an MOU last year with the aim of sharing good practice, collaborating on safety documentation and participating at events.
Ken Scott will be speaking at the next ESSMA Safety and Security workshop on 22 – 23 March in Stuttgart on the issues of crowd management.
