The Green Guide is the world renowned guidance document that provides advice on how to safely design and manage a sports ground. The 1st edition of the Green Guide was published by the British Government in 1973 and has been updated a further four times in the past 40 years, in response to lessons learned from tragedies including those at Bradford and Hillsborough and innovations and advances in design and construction. The current edition, the 5th, was published in 2008, it is acknowledged as a vital reference document for architects, engineers and stadium specialists around the world and for those who oversee or support safety in sports grounds.

Complements and expands on the advice on safety management in the Green Guide, updating and bringing together into a single publication previous guidance on spectator safety policies, contingency planning, exercise planning and briefing, as well as providing new detailed guidance to assist ground management in developing operation manuals, stewarding plans and medical plans. Provides an invaluable source of information for sports ground managers, designers, safety advisors and agencies involved in the upgrading of an existing facility or the design of a new one. It expands on the advice contained in the Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds and provides details of relevant BS and BSEN Standards for CCTV and public address systems.
