The Sports Grounds Safety Authority to become ESSMA strategic partner
ESSMA and the Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to encourage collaborative working, sharing good practice and working together for the benefit of spectator safety.
The MOU sets out a number of objectives to work together for the shared goal of ensuring the safety of spectators at sports grounds. ESSMA and the SGSA have agreed to share relevant documents and research, collaborate on safety documentation and participate in events including the ESSMA Summit. The SGSA will also sit on the ESSMA Safety Management Expert Group, supporting members and sharing good practice to help provide spectators with a safe and enjoyable experience at sports grounds.
ESSMA, the European Stadium & Safety Management Association, is a not for profit association that allows stadium, safety and head grounds managers to exchange knowledge and expertise. ESSMA services its members of over 250 stadiums, through content, case studies, events (seminars, workshops and tours), individual services and networking.
ESSMA has a European focus but allows non-European stadiums and organisations to join the association. The association has been founded in 1996 by former president Lionel Dreksler.
“The SGSA is committed to working in partnership and we are delighted to be working with ESSMA. We look forward sharing good practice and learning from others to help ensure spectators have a safe and enjoyable experience at sports grounds around the world.”
Rick Riding, Interim Chief Executive SGSA
“We’re extremely proud to announce this partnership with the SGSA, as we both support the advance of knowledge and research capabilities in major sporting events concerning safety and security. The SGSA is a great addition to share knowledge with and their involvement in the Safety Expert Group will be of huge value to ESSMA.”
John Beattie, President ESSMA
