Background

1.  The SGSA annually collates and publishes the number of reported injuries at football grounds in England and Wales. Data is requested from all Premier League and Football League clubs plus Wembley and the Millennium Stadium and includes all competitive league and cup games. Each club is asked to provide the total number of reported injuries.

2. For the purpose of this summary an injury is classed as a wound or trauma, hurt or harm, usually applied to damage inflicted on a body by an external force.  Illnesses are by their nature excluded.  Pre-existing injuries are also discounted as the report primarily focuses on spectators’ injuries occurring within the curtilage of the ground on match day.

3. The SGSA received a full complement of returns this year.
